Earle Edgar Kemmerly, 96 of New Castle, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 19, 2016.
Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on October 22, 1919. Earle was the son of the late Frank Edgar and Myrtle Lynch Kemmerly, the devoted husband to the late Helen Louise Staton Kemmerly for 62 years, and was preceded in death by his son, Earle Eugene Kemmerly in 1989.
He is survived by his daughters, Bettie Kemmerly Burch and her husband Hiram of AltaVista, VA and Carol(Sue) Kemmerly Marshall and her husband Richard of New Castle, PA; eight grandchildren, Cynthia Burch Ramsey (Kenneth), Tracey Kemmerly (Kimberly), Debra Burch Spencer (John), Pamela Kemmerly Mogavero (Jim), Hiram Burch, Jr., Steven Marshall (Marlea), Brian Kemmerly (Joyce) and Jeffery Marshall as well as seven great grandchildren: Emily, Haley, Scott, Macy, Brooke, Joshua, and Angela.
A proud military man, Earle joined the U.S. Army in April 1944 and fought in World War II (Italy, Philippines). A devoted husband and father, his values always reflected the importance of his family. In his spare-time he could often be found fishing, golfing, or bowling or watching his favorite Westerns or game shows. The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Allegheny Home Care Hospice for the superior care they provided Earle.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Wilmington Road, New Castle. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Internment will take place at Parkside Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church and Rev. Matthew Bupp of Allegheny Health Network.
