Edith Shapiro, 83, of 130 Edison Avenue, formerly of W. Sheridan Avenue, passed away the morning of October 26, 2014 at Jameson Hospital. Born May 7, 1931 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Morris and Rose Protetch Melincoff. She was preceded in death on July 20, 2000 by her husband, Norman Shapiro, whom she married September 7, 1962. Edith was a graduate of East High School in Youngstown, Ohio was was a homemaker. Among her many interests, Edith was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, enjoyed cooking, was a dog lover, and enjoyed most the time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Sheridanettes Card Club and of Hadassah. She was a very active member of the Tifereth Israel Synagogue. Survivors include two sons, Alan (Karen Boltwood) Shapiro of Webster, NY, and Lee B. Shapiro of New Castle; a sister, Mildred Rusnak of Youngstown; and three grandchildren, Benjamin David Shapiro, Nathan Frederick Shapiro and Katharine Noa Shapiro. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick and Samuel Melincoff. At Edith's request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Tifereth Israel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah, c/o Temple Hadar Israel, 403 E.
