Edna M. McCowin, 86, of Shenango Township, formerly of Edinburg, passed away the morning of September 4, 2019, at Quality Life Services -New Castle. Born November 3, 1932, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Amos W. and Freda (Weatherby) Young. She married Edward I. McCowin on September 2, 1950. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2014. Edna was a self employed care giver. She enjoyed going to yard sales, was a member of the Croation Club, Eastern Star, and the Bessemer and Johnson Clubs, located in the Bessemer /Hillsville area. What gave Edna the most joy in life, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Castlewood CMA Church. Edna is survived by two daughters, Kim (Paul) Zentz of Tidioute, PA; Mary Jane McCowin of New Castle, PA; three sons, Timothy A. (Lillian) McCowin; Craig (Lynne) McCowin and Daniel (Cassandra) McCowin all of New Castle, PA; twelve grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Edna is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kyley McCowin, one grandson, Craig Occhibone and one brother, Walter Young. Private services were held at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Rev. James O'Hara of Castlewood CMA Church, officiated. Burial will be at Savannah Cemetery, in New Castle.
