Edna Johnston Henderson Sutch, formerly of New Castle and of Hudson, Florida, passed away the morning of January 5, 2012, in Cranberry, Pa.She was born in Pittsburgh on December 12, 1921, to James O. and Eliza Pritchard Johnston.Edna married twice. She married her first husband, John F. Henderson in 1944, and she married her second husband, John Sutch in 1976, both of whom preceded her in death in 1996. She attended Mt. Lebanon High School, graduating in 1939 and was a 1943 graduate of Grove City College. Edna was the founding president of the Gulfview Chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America in Hudson, Florida and throughout her life volunteered for numerous community projects and programs.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hudson, Florida, and of Highland United Presbyterian Church of New Castle, where she had served as an elder. She was the first female moderator of the Shenango Presbytery in 1972.She is survived by one daughter; Judith Ellen Henderson of Mosier, Oregon, two sons and daughters-in-law; John F. and Adale Henderson of Gainesville, Virginia, and David E. Henderson and his wife Brenda K. McBride of Slippery Rock, and four grandchildren; Margaret, Kathryn, Danielle, and William Maxwell Henderson. She is also survived by two step-children and 2 step-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister; Margaret Johnston.A memorial service will be held at the Highland United Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 7, at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by the Reverend Richard Kinney. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charities.
