Obituary

Edward D. Brown, 82, of Rogers Road, passed away the night of February 16, 2016 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born November 7, 1933 in Harlansburg, he was a son of Kenneth and Phoebe Fennick Brown. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Carole L. Leishman Brown, whom he married on December 4, 1958. Ed served his country in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was employed with the P&LE and Amtrak. Ed was an avid Nascar fan. He enjoyed both playing and listening to music, going for walks, and loved playing with his golden retriever, "Missy". In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Penny Blair of New Castle; two sons, Randy L. Brown and James E. (Audrey) Brown of New Castle; and four grandchildren, James E. Brown, II, Kaetlyn (Karl) Hermann, Kimber (Zack) Morgan, and Cody A. Blair. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Richard Brown. A family greeting time will be held on Saturday from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at First United Brethren Church, 1900 Eastbrook Road, New Castle, PA, A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. David Bell officiating. Military rites will be given by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
