Edward J. Bush, 84, of 15 W. Hazelcroft Avenue, passed away the afternoon of May 3, 2011 in Jameson Memorial Hospital.Born June 10, 1926 in New Castle, he was a son of Harvey B. and Eila V. Hamilton Bush. He married Jacqueline Mitchell on November 24, 1950. She survives.Ed was a 1945 graduate of New Castle High School where he held the position of class president for four years. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947 in the Philippines and Korea.Ed retired in 1979 as a real estate broker. He then became the chief clerk for the Lawrence County Commissioners and later provided a personal service for the elderly in New Castle. In earlier years he worked for the Harvey Bush Grocery Store, which was owned by his father.He was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church and attended the Tri-M Sunday school class.In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Thom Hammond of McMurray, PA; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Mark E. and Terri Bush of Cranberry and Jeffery J. and Kimberly L. Bush of Lake Norman, NC; one brother, Harvey "Bud" Bush of Vista, CA; one sister, Patricia Tippie of Austin, TX; and six grandchildren, Zac Hammond, Mackenzie Hammond, Mallory Bush, Kirsten Bush, Stephanie Bush and Rachel Bush.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be on Thursday, May 5, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, at the funeral home. The Rev. Chris Weichman will officiate.
