Edward Dean Hill, age 87, of New Castle, passed away the early morning of Feb. 6, 2024, at his residence.

Born Sept. 7, 1936, in New Castle, he was the son of the late George Harlow 'Dutch' Hill and Eleanor Jane (Dean) Reed.

On April 16, 1960, he married his beloved wife of 63 years, Carolyn Ann Mansfield Hill. She survives at home.

Edward was a 1954 graduate of NeCaHi. Following graduation, he faithfully served in the United States Navy for four years where he was stationed on the USS Cassin Young DD-793. He was employed by Penn Power, working in the meter department, for over 30 years. After his retirement, he worked as a Ranger, at Castle Hills Golf Course. Edward enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, Nascar, hockey, football, and baseball. He loved tinkering with cars and was very proud of his 1932 Chevy that he worked hard to restore. He was a member of the Eagles Club and First Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by three daughters, Carol Ann Hill (Eden White) of Smyrna, GA, Marcia Hill McFarland of New Castle, PA, and Jeannie Hill Macri of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Ryan Macri (Ashley) of Panama City, FL, Leah Macri of Orlando, FL, Jeffrey McFarland of Huntsville, AL; and three great grandchildren, Zachary, Lillian and Adelaide.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sandra Conti and Sally Pardick, and stepfather, Dean E. Reed.

Visitation will be held on Friday Feb. 9th 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 3:00 PM, with Rev. John Yergan officiating and the New Castle Area Honor Guard will be officiating military rites.
