Edward H. Moyer, 86, of Shenango Township, passed away the morning of January 19, 2017 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born in Castlewood, PA on December 12, 1930, he was a son of Harvey and Anna Marie Crans Moyer.
His wife of 35 years, the former Dorothy "Jean" Brown, survives him at home.
A graduate of Shenango High School, he then served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a plumber and pipe fitter at the Shippingport Power Plant. He was the owner of Moyer Heating and Plumbing for 13 years. He was also a master hypnotist for 25 years.
Edward wrote poetry and won a contest for poetry that was held by the New Castle News. He studied German, liked science and enjoyed watching the History Channel. He was a former member of the Saxon Club and a member of Shenango Christian Church where he was known for his knowledge of the Bible. He loved his Lord and Savior.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Rhonda (Pat) Aluisa and Cathy (Jeff) Filer; one son, Robert (Lynn) Irvine, all of New Castle; one brother, Fred Moyer of Ellwood City; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Irvine, Jacquelyn Irvine-VanDommelen and her husband, Adam VanDommelen, Patsy Alusia, Michelle Alusia, Joshua Reigh and his fiance, Breanna Gerwel, Amber Reigh, Alison Filer, and Jessica Damato; three great grandchildren; and a special niece, Susan Dietrich. He will be deeply missed by his two toy poodles, "Buddy" and "Beau."
His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at Shenango Christian Church, 2404 Willowhurst Circle, New Castle on Saturday from 11:00-1:00.
A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation on Saturday at 1:00 pm at the church with Tim Erwin officiating. The New Castle Honor Guard will perform a full military service.
Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Cemetery.
