Edward G. Owens, 83, of 229 Sunset Drive, New Castle, passed away the morning of July 20, 2011 in Jameson Hospital.Born December 26, 1927 in New Castle, he was a son of Edward J. and Wilna Adams Owens.He married Theresa Callahan on July 23, 1949. She survives.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Philippines.Ed was a machinist for the railroad. He was a member of the former Second Presbyterian Church.He was a member of several organizations including the Masons, New Castle Paws-n-Taws, the PA Notary Association and the McDonald's Breakfast Club.In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Terrance E. and wife Doreen Owens of Florida, William E. and wife Lynn Owens of New Castle, Ronald P. and wife Mary Owens of Orlando, FL and Gregory A. Owens of Pittsburgh; two brothers, William R. Owens of New Wilmington and Darrel L. Owens of New Castle; one sister, Margaret and husband Jay Reynolds of New Jersey; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert Owens.Visitation will be on Friday, July 22, 2011, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 23, 2011, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Rex Wasser will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
