Obituary

Edward Philip Wish Jr., 85, formerly of 716 Sunset Valley Road, New Castle, Pa entered into eternal life the morning of Friday, August 13, 2021. Edward was born October 4, 1935, in New Castle, the son of the late Edward Philip Sr. and Florence Ward Wish. Edward was an alumni of Mercersburg Academy and Denison University. After graduation he served as a Naval Officer in Newport, Rhode Island. Edward was assigned to the destroyer, the USS Hissem, where he served from May 1959 through May 1962. Edward returned to New Castle after completion of his Naval obligation and joined his father at Castle Stationary Company. He met the former Deanna Casalandra, also of New Castle, and they married February 8, 1964. She preceded him in death in 2010. Together they raised two children, Merit and Michael. Together and separately they acquired and ran Castle Stationary Companies, Casalandra Metal Stamping, Terrace North Apartments and other residential and commercial rental properties and businesses. Edward was an entrepreneur and a gentleman farmer. Edward was a civic volunteer. He served as an active member of New Castle Rotary #89 from 1964 and was a Rotary International "Paul Harris Fellow". He served on the board of the Salvation Army. Edward was the epitome of the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self". Socially, Edward was a lifelong member of the New Castle Country Club and the American Polled Herford Association. Edward was a Roman Catholic and devout in his faith. He was a life member of Mary Mother of Hope, New Castle. He was an active volunteer for years at the church Summerfest working tables at games of chance. Edward met the second great love of his life, Faith Hassan, in 2013. Together they enjoyed a new chapter of love and devotion. And they danced. Edward was fortunate to travel extensively across this country and abroad. He was known for his wit, remarkable memory, loyalty and honesty. Edward is survived by his loving companion Faith Hassan; children, Merit (Ronald) Phillips Jr., Michael (Michelle) Wish; grandchildren Bryce, Brandon and Brett Enscoe, Reagan and Shenley Wish, all of New Castle; and a sister, Anne Wish, of Fairfax, VA. Edward received military rites and has been interned in his final resting place at Madonna Cemetery, New Castle. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.
