Edwin McQuiston, 90, of New Castle, passed away the morning of January 12, 2018 at UPMC Jameson. Ed was born on October 6, 1927, in New Castle, to the late William and Pearl McQuiston. Mr. McQuiston was a graduate of New Castle High School and was the founder of McQuiston Coal Company. On June 15, 1950, he married the former Nancy L. Klee. She preceded him in passing on November 27, 2004. Mr. McQuiston served his country as a member of the Army Air Corp. Ed loved golfing, fishing, hunting and boating. He was a devoted and loyal Steelers fan. Mr. McQuiston was an accomplished pilot and enjoyed flying his Cesna. Ed also had a passion for the Indy 500. He is survived by his daughter, Carol McQuiston-Shirey, of New Castle; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin K. and Marleen McQuiston, of New Castle, Matt and Melissa McQuiston, of Bessemer; 3 Grandchildren, Edwin McQuiston and his wife Heather, Shannon Pelitier and her husband Josh, Kelsey Lancia and her husband Michael and 4 great-grandchildren, Gracie, Matthew, Noah and Charlotte. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. McQuiston was preceded in passing by two brothers, Robert and Phillip McQuiston and his sister, Lynn Carol. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12-1 PM at R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., New Castle, PA. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
