Obituary

Edwin C. Stevens, 92, of Neshannock Township, passed away the afternoon of December 16, 2018 at Jameson Care Center. Born March 6, 1926 in New Castle, he was the son of George W. and Marie M. (Conner) Stevens. He was preceded in death on March 3, 2002 by his wife of 53 years, Esther F. Cangey, whom he married on April 12, 1948. Ed served his country in the US Navy during WWII at the early age of 17. He was the owner of Stevens Masonry Construction Company until his retirement in 1986. After his retirement he enjoyed helping his children and grandchildren laying brick and building their homes until 2005. Among his many interests, Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, travel and RVing. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of St. Camillus Church. He is survived by four sons, Gary E. (Noi) Stevens of Bangkok, Thailand, George (Melanie) Stevens, Greg (Judy) Stevens and Edwin (Jeananne) Stevens all of Neshannock Township; one brother, Richard P. Stevens; two sisters, Gertrude Paul Toscano of Venice, FL and Nadyne Klingensmith of Neshannock Township; a sister-in-law, Betty Stevens of Neshannock; 8 grandchildren, Angelina Stevens, Heather (Rodney) Giangiuli, George (Cassie) Stevens, Jr., Allison (Ben) Butler, Amanda (Bryan) Rodgers, Michelle (Austin) Vanassa, Ashlee (Sean) Brown and Dylan Stevens; and 6 great-grandchildren, Mason Davison, Ava Davison, Mia Davison, Brianna Rodgers, Adelyn Rodgers and Olivia Vanassa. In addition to his parents and his wife, Esther, he was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Doyle, one brother, George C. Stevens, and his loving dog, Shadow. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for St. Camillus Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. The Father Anthony Sciarappa will officiate.
