Edyce J. Peak, 76, of Harlansburg Road, New Castle, passed away the afternoon of February 6, 2011 in Grove City Medical Center.Born March 7, 1934 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Fred and Josephine V. Rose Thompson. She married William H. Peak on February 8, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2000.She was a graduate of East Lawrence High School, formerly Plain Grove High School.She was a homemaker.Edyce enjoyed baking, reading, sewing and crossword puzzles. Most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and she also attended First Baptist Church.She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jon Seymour of New Castle; one son, John R. Peak of Pittsburgh; one sister and brother-in-law, Alice J. and Martin Soursa of Saratoga, CA; two grandchildren, Michelle Seymour and Shannon (Dr. Richard) Porter; and four great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one brother, Robert Thompson.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. The Rev. Thomas Meling and The Rev. John Yergan will officiate.
