Elaine A. Allerton, age 90, of Neshannock Township, passed away the afternoon of June 5, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born May 28, 1926 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Orville and Flossie Bradshaw Potter. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Zachariah Allerton, Jr., whom she married on October 11, 1947. A New Castle High School graduate, Elaine enjoyed being a homemaker, taking care of her husband and her two children. Two words describe Elaine; kindness and thankfulness. Kindness was her gift to the world. Thankfulness was her gift to God. She was a member of the 500 Card club as well as up to five card clubs at one time. She loved mysteries and enjoyed working crossword puzzles in ink. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Jill E. Allerton of New Castle; one son, Zach A. Allerton of New Castle; a sister, Janet Sherer of New Hope, PA; a daughter-in-law, Jeannie Allerton; and three grandchildren, Anthony Allerton, Rebecca Allerton, and Jennifer Elaine Estock. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jack Potter. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Castle View Gardens with the Rev. Nathan Loudon officiating.
