Eleanor Grace Dwyer Dale passed away the afternoon of February 3, 2022, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. She was born October 15, 1926, to George and Louise (Robinson) Dwyer in New Castle. She married Richard H. Dale on October 29, 1946, and after 71 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on November 24, 2017. A June 1944 graduate of New Castle High School, she worked at United Engineering during World War II as a government inspector, and later, a ticket agent at the bus depot and tax preparer with H & R Block until her retirement. Eleanor was United Methodist, serving at Croton United Methodist as the treasurer for twenty years, teaching confirmation classes and the Son Rise Class, and at First United Methodist church, singing in the choir. With both churches she was the delegate to the annual conference. Eleanor is survived by Ronald Dale; Jennefer, Michael and Samantha Bender; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a nephew, Terry Gibson. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard A. Dale and a sister, Mary Louise Gibson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 8, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Myles Bradley officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Castle View Mausoleum.
