Eleanor J. Hill Reed, 100, of New Castle, passed away the morning of December 3, 2011, at the Avalon Nursing Home.Eleanor was born October 30, 1911, in New Castle, to the late John William and Elizabeth Ann Richardson Dean. She was married to the late Harlow "Dutch" Hill, who passed on April 21, 1949. She married her second husband, Dean E. Reed, on October 15, 1958. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1998. Mrs. Reed was a secretary in the registration office at the Lawrence County Court House.Eleanor was of the Protestant faith and belong to the Epworth U.M. Seniors, Epworth Church Terrific Tuesdays group and the First Baptist Church Sparklers.She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Lee Conti of Pulaski; a son, Edward Dean Hill of New Castle; one brother, Charles A. Dean of New Castle; one sister, Dorothy Kegarise of Beaver; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one daughter, Sally Lou Pardick; one step son, Charles W. Reed; one brother, Chester Dean and one sister, Ruth Cleland.Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Brian Miller, of People's Alliance Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
