Eleanor Kurtz (Duckie) Saylor, age 88, of Mechanicsburg, PA, formerly of New Castle, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of May 22, 2017 at the ONeill Nursing Home in Fairview Park, OH. Born December 9, 1928 in Bellwood, PA, she was the daughter of John H. Kurtz, Jr. and Eva Agnes Briggs Kurtz. Eleanor was preceded in death on October 13, 2009 by her beloved husband of 59 years, Donald Stuckey Saylor, whom she married on September 4, 1950. A graduate of Bellwood Antis High School, she received her registered nursing degree from the Altoona School of Nursing. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of New Castle, PA where she often helped in the nursery and sang in the church choir. Eleanor was very accomplished at knitting and crocheting. Her creations grace the homes of friends and family. She also crocheted baby blankets and outfits for the Capital Area Pregnancy Center. Lap robes were made with love for the returning wounded troops at the Walter Reed Medical Center. She was commended for her donations to the troops by General Hackett of the US Army Security Assistance Command. She is survived by two sons, Robert Dean Saylor of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Daniel Kurtz ( Toni Lynn Aiello Saylor) Saylor Sr. of Grafton, OH; one daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Saylor of Mechanicsburg, PA; one brother, John Henderson Kurtz, Jr., of Bellwood, PA; two sisters, Elsie Dingeldein of Altoona, PA, and Evelyn Dingeldein of Meadville, PA; and three grandchildren, Dawn Michelle Saylor, Shauna Marie Saylor and Daniel D.J. Kurtz Saylor, Jr. She received great joy in taking care of and loving Jenna (Cunningham) Flaim and Amanda (Cunningham) Bolinger as she did her own grandchildren and welcomed Easton Flaim as she would her own great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Lockhoff, and her beloved husband Don. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017, from 12:30-1:30 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at the funeral home.
