Eleanor M. Ward, age 97, of New Castle, passed away the early morning of Feb. 6, 2024, at Quality Life Services – New Castle.

Born June 23, 1926, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Clyde C. and Eleanor M. (Boyer) Altman.

She married her beloved husband of 76 years, Richard L. Ward, Sr. He preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 2022.

Eleanor was a graduate of New Castle High School. For over 30 years, she worked as a lunch lady, at Neshannock High School. Eleanor was a faithful member of First Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, Richard L. (Martha) Ward, Jr. of Volant, PA, and Russell (Lynda) Ward of New Castle, PA; three grandchildren Adam (Kristin) Ward, Rusty Ward and Jaime Lowther; two great grandchildren, Samantha Ward and Abby Lowther.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by two brothers William A. Altman and Clyde C. Altman, Jr.

In keeping with her wishes, a private service will be held for family members.

Burial will be alongside her husband at Graceland Cemetery.
