Elizabeth Gwynn Conti, age 93, formerly of Walnut Street, passed away the late afternoon of Jan. 20, 2020, at Avalon Nursing Center – New Castle. Born Dec. 16, 1926, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Head) Broaddus. She married Thomas J. Conti, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1971. Elizabeth was a 1944 graduate of New Castle High School. She was a nurse's aide at the Almira Home for 15 years, before her retirement. Elizabeth enjoyed reading her Bible, working outside in the yard and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of First Assembly of God. Elizabeth is survived by five sons, Thomas J. Conti, Jr., Ronald A. Conti, Frank Conti, all of New Castle, Daniel E. Conti of Charleston, SC, and Gerrell B. Conti of N. Myrtle Beach; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 24th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will take place at 6:00 pm with the Rev. James Dinger of First Assembly of God, officiating.
