Obituary

Elizabeth A. Hackett, 78, of 7116 Andre Court, Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of New Castle, passed away March 21, 2013, in the IU Health University Hospital. Born February 3, 1935, in New Castle, she was a daughter of Floyd and Laura Patton Alford.She is survived by her husband, David E. Hackett, also of Indianapolis, whom she married on October 18, 1958. She was a graduate of Shenango High School. Elizabeth was a homemaker most of her life, with the exception of her employment with Universal Rundle as a secretary for approximately seven years. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and the Jameson Ladies Guild.Elizabeth enjoyed needlework, travel, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Dean and Lena Hackett of Indianapolis and Douglas and Linda Hackett of Ft. Washington, PA; one brother, James Alford, of Greenville, SC; one sister, Edna Jean Meade, of Peoria, AZ; and five grandchildren, Ian Hackett, Sophia Hackett, Isabelle Hackett, Erin Hackett and Jillian Hackett. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Ruth Shaddock. Visitation will be held on Tuesdaym, March 26, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by The Rev. Andrew Jillson. Burial will be in Neshannock U.P. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the IU Simon Cancer Center, P.O. Box 660245, Indianapolis, IN 46266-0245.
