Elizabeth M. "Betty" Houk, 92, of Neshannock Township passed away the evening of January 6, 2014 at Jameson Hospital North. Born June 11, 1921 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Raymond A. Phillips Sr. and Blodwen Evans Phillips. Betty married Donald R. Houk on March 23, 1946. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2006. She was a graduate of New Castle High School. A homemaker, Betty had worked at Bell Telephone before she married. Betty enjoyed cooking, working in her yard, bird watching and she treasured the time spent with her family. She was a long time member of Third Presbyterian Church. Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald A. and Sally Houk of New Castle; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Elizabeth and Thomas Carr of Ashtabula, OH, and Carolyn Sue and Ted Palmer of New Castle; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Donald Ray and Sara Houk, Elaine E. and Will Welker, Julie Ann and Geoff Weber, Douglas Thomas and Elaine Carr, David Raymond Carr, Michelle Lynn and Craig Wilson, and Heather Elaine and Josh McDanel; and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond A. Phillips, Jr.; and an infant son. Visitation will be Thursday, January 9, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Michael Spicuzza will officiate.
