Elizabeth S. Knowles, 91, a resident of Elmcroft Assisted Living Home in Beaver Fall, PA, passed away on the afternoon of March 20, 2010.Born on December 17, 1918, in New Castle, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Andrews J. and Ethel McKee Slaver. She was also the step daughter of the late Helen McKibben Slaver. She was married to Robert Earl Knowles. He passed away on April 5, 1995. She worked for the American Red Cross as the Director of Military Contact and retired after 20 years of service. Mrs. Knowles was a New Castle High School graduate. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wimodausis, Past Worthy Matron of the order of Eastern Star Chapter #105 and a Rainbow Board Member Assembly #1.She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sue Anne and Victor Linnenbom of Beaver Falls, PA; and one grandson and his fiance, Victor Andrew Linnenbom and Jamie Rishel of Columbus, OH.She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother; and husband.Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Rd., New Castle, PA.A service will take place on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. John Miller of First United Methodist Church officiating.
