Ellen Mae Gwin, 91, formerly of Ashberry Lane, passed away the afternoon of November 13, 2011 at Jameson Hospital.Born August 10, 1920 in New Castle, she was a daughter of David Putt and Justina Rhoda Woodcock Putt. She married John Francis Gwin on November 17, 1939. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1983.She was a 1938 graduate of New Castle High School and was employed as a branch manager for Home Interior and Gifts.Ellen was an 81 year member of First Alliance Church where she worked in the church office and was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed playing the piano at church for over 57 years. She also like to go camping, line dancing and attending many car shows at Hoss's Restaurant. Most important to her was spending time with her family.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy E. and Ronald Rowe of DeSoto, TX; five sons and four daughters-in-law, John David and Carol Gwin of Edinburg, Charles L. and Patty Gwin, Larry R. and Delores Gwin, Barry E. Gwin, and Ronald E. and Sharon Gwin all of New Castle; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a step-brother, Frank Corrino.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16 2011, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Drive, New Castle.Rev.
