Ellen L. Richey, 68, of Neshannock Twp, passed away the afternoon of September 16, 2015 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born May 23, 1947 in Springfield, MO., she was the daughter of Dale R. and Helen Baucom Zeigler. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John L. Richey , whom she married September 6, 1968.
Ellen was a 1965 graduate of Neshannock High School. She was employed for 29 years at Penn Power as a Word Processing Supervisor and retired in 1994. Afterwards, she was a bookkeeper and secretary for St. Camillus for many years, as well as a secretary at First Church of God on Euclid Ave.
Among her many interests, were playing piano, reading, sewing, and word processing on the computer. Ellen also enjoyed going to yard sales to purchase stuffed animals for Operation Christmas Child.
She was an active member of New Life Baptist Church. Ellen taught the 3 and 4 year old Wednesday night class. She volunteered at their VBS summer spectacular. She also helped coordinate the church directory. Ellen traveled on missions trips to Honduras, Brazil, and Jamaica.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Melissa (John) Marks of New Castle, and Wendy (Daniel) Black of Buckeye, AZ.; one son, Cary (Patricia) Richey of New Castle; one brother, Larry Zeigler of W. Pittsburgh; one sister, Marilyn Zeigler of New Castle; 7 Grandchildren, Wyatt, Harlie, Nicole, Cody, Matthew, Kayla, and Paige.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Zeigler.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Rd.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Bailey officiating.
Burial will be in Neshannock Presbyterian Cemetery.
