Elmer F. Harlan, 97, of 2362 Princeton Station Rd., New Castle, passed away the afternoon of October 6, 2011 at Jameson Hospital.Born November 22, 1913 in New Castle, he was a son of Merle and Florence Badger Harlan.He married Ada Marie Shaffer on June 23, 1934. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2001.Elmer was a self employed dairy farmer and a Slippery Rock Township supervisor.He was a member of Mt. Hermon Church.He is survived by three daughters, Eleanor Mae and Raymond Frazier of New Castle, Margaret Jane Walters of Mercer, and Thelma Marie and John Domblisky of Gilbert, AZ; two sons, John E. and Ruth Harlan and Howard L. and Becky Harlan all of New Castle; one daughter-in-law, Janie Harlan of Ellwood City; one brother, Art Harlan of New Castle; two sisters, Dorothy Davis of Edinburg and Mabel McCracken of Pittsburgh; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sons, Richard, Thomas and William Harlan; two sisters, Mary Harlan and Martha McGowen; and three brothers, Ralph, Herb and William Harlan.Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct 9, 2011 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev.Dr. John Loch will officiate.
