Elmer Thomas Stewart, Sr., age 81, of New Castle, passed away, from complications of Lewy Body Dementia, the afternoon of Dec. 4, 2022, at his residence.

Born May 19, 1941, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Samuel and Florence (Gilson) Stewart.

On July 13, 1963, he married his beloved wife of 59 years, Marlene Frances (Himes) Stewart. She survives at home.

Elmer was a graduate of Shenango High School. He was employed as a mill wright by Pentex for 10 years, and then the DFA, until his retirement. Elmer enjoyed hunting and spending time at his camp. He treasured the times he was able to cheer on his grandchildren at their school activities and sporting events. What gave Elmer the most joy in life was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Elmer is survived by two sons, Elmer Stewart, Jr., of Princeton, PA, and Michael Wayne (Missie) Stewart of Mercer, PA; one daughter, Missy (Wade) Mickley of New Castle, PA; one brother, Clyde Stewart of New Castle, PA; and six grandchildren, Michael Lyons, Jr., Thomas Lyons, Jessica McFadden, William Stewart, Ainsley Stewart, and Ellery Stewart.

Along with is his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by three brothers, Art, Robert and Sam Stewart, three sisters, Mattie Peterson, Blanche James and Dorothy Hollencamp, and one daughter, Elene Stewart.

In keeping with his wishes there will a private visitation and service.
