Elsie May Clarke, 99, of Jameson Care Center, passed away the morning of January 30, 2011 in Jameson Care Center.Born July 8, 1911 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Harry and Isabel Booth Masters.She married Benjamin J. Clarke in 1929. He preceded her in death in October of 1957.She was a graduate of New Castle High School and was a nurses aid with Jameson Hospital for eighteen years.Elsie has traveled in 48 states and the Providences in Canada. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and current events.She was a member of Epworth Methodist Church.She is survived by two sons Richard G. and wife Corrinda Clarke of New Castle and Harry D. Clarke of Hartsell, AL; one daughter-in-law, Jeanna Clarke of New Castle; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert J. Clarke and Roderick B. Clarke; three brothers, Harry Masters, Charles Masters and Frank Masters.There will be no calling hours. A private family graveside service will be held at Castle View Gardens.Arrangements are by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
