Emily Grace Hoffman, 97, formerly of Delaware Avenue, passed away the night of August 30, 2012 at Edison Manor.Born May 4, 1915, in New Castle, she was a daughter of Chester P. and Nancy Elizabeth Carpenter Reynolds.She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew William Hoffman, on April 24, 1972.Emily graduated from New Castle High School in January, 1933. She was employed at J.C. Penney and The Bootery, formerly in the Town Mall.She was a member of Wimodausis, AARP, and Prime Timers. She was also involved with Meals on Wheels and Terrific Tuesdays.Emily was a lifelong member of Epworth United Methodist Church where she was a charter member of United Methodist Women.She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and James Brooks of New Castle; one son and daughter-in-law, William R. and Doris Hoffman of Venice, FL; 4 grandchildren, Nancy (Sid) Moffatt, Lori (Keith) Lysiak, Amy (Thomas Jr.) Matthews and Janet (Frank) Carlson; 12 great-grandchildren, Kasey, Leah, Frank, Elise, Peter, David and Jenna Carlson, Trevon and Cabraya Matthews, Libby and Katie Moffatt, and Joseph Lysiak; one niece, Betsy Galbreath; and two nephews, Chester Arnold and Joseph Arnold.In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul C. Reynolds; one sister, Esther H. Arnold; and one nephew, Robert Reynolds.In keeping with Emily's request, there will be no calling hours.A private service will take place at Castle View Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The service will be officiated by Pastor Thom Scott of Epworth United Methodist Church.Arrangements are by the R.
