Erin Ann Rooney, 63, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly the morning of March 21, 2022, at her home. Born November 19, 1958, in New Castle, she was the daughter of John A. and Rebecca V. (Fazzone) Rooney. She was a graduate of New Castle High School and attended Erie Business School. Erin was employed with Community Alternatives as a bookkeeper for 14 years. Among her many interests, she enjoyed reading, watching old television shows and popcorn. She was a dog lover and the best moments of her life were enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and the many makeovers they gave her. She is survived by two sons, Mark (Jenine) DeSalvo of West Middlesex and Matthew (Emily) DeSalvo of Wampum; two sisters, Maureen Rooney and Colleen Rooney Higbee, both of Cranberry Twp; and six grandchildren, Danica, Leah, Cheyenne, Layla and Matthew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Rooney in 2021, and one granddaughter, Eliana. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 25, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, 124 N. Beaver Street, New Castle.
