Erma Jean Lewis, age 91, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of February 22, 2015 at Jameson Place.
Born October 25, 1923 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Lee Emel and Goldena Kerr Allen.
She was preceded in death on March 11, 2005 by her husband Gomer Lewis, whom she married March 11, 1947.
After graduating from New Castle High School, Jean worked for four years for Johnson Bronze. She later was employed in the Ambulatory Care Center of Jameson Hospital as a secretary, where she retired after 18 years.
Jean was the past president of the Elks Ladies and of Jameson Junior Guild.
A member of Highland Presbyterian Church, she also was a member of the First Presbyterian Recreation Center.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverlee Hileman of Brook Park, Ohio, and Nancy (David) Craft of Holicong, PA; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Edward Lewis and James Michael Lewis; one daughter, Barbara Ann Lewis; and one sister, Helen Grannis.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 - 1:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A service will be held Saturday immediately following visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Matthew Bupp, Celtic Hospice Chaplain, officiating.
Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
