Esther M. Smith, 83, of 12 Crocker Lane, passed away the morning of April 20, 2013 at her residence. Born September 20, 1929 in Mercer County, PA, she was a daughter of Hiram and Marie Whinery Hedglin. She was married to Harold Smith, who preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1990. Esther was a graduate of Plain Grove High School and was a home health aide. She enjoyed being active in the church functions of Church of God where she was a member. She is survived by her two daughters, Denice Smith of Zelienople and Diane Smith of New Castle; a son, David Smith, of New Castle; a brother, Glenn Hedglin of Greenville, PA; a sister, Georgia Cameron of New Wilmington; two grandchildren, Rachelle Smith and Jennifer Smith Anderson and husband Cory; and four great grandchildren, Zachary Cameron, Sydney Mastrangelo, Kylee Mastrangelo and Sarah Mastrangelo. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by and infant daughter; one sister, Genevieve Bowden; and two brothers, William and Robert Hedglin. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of God, 905 Highland Avenue. Among those officiating will be, Rev. Ronald Mounts, Rev. David Young, Rev. Abel Robles, and Pastor Sam Holmes. Burial is in Oak Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Haitian Outreach, c/o Rev.
