Esther C. Stewart, 88, of Macedonia, Ohio, formerly of Mt. Jackson, passed away the afternoon of February 21, 2011 in Hillcrest Hospital, Mayfield Heights, Ohio.Born October 7, 1922 in New Castle, PA, she was a daughter of Norman and Inez Brown Hunt.She married Chester F. Stewart on October 15, 1943. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1995.She was a graduate of Harlansburg High School and New Castle Business College.Esther was employed for nineteen years with the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk and a mail sorter. She previously worked for the New Castle Pottery and National Radiator Company.She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), the Mt. Jackson Women's Club and Mt. Jackson Senior Citizens. She also was a member of First Christian Church of New Castle.Survivors include two daughters, Janet I. and Ed Kleffman of Pottsville, PA and Mary S. and Mike Porter of Hudson, OH; one son, James L. and Dianne Stewart of Aliquippa, PA; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Stewart of West Hollywood, CA; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Kleffman, Paul Kleffman, Melissa and Tom Krawczyk, Jeff Stewart, Michelle and Jeffrey Mertins, Tom and Tammy Stewart, Josh and Laura Stewart, Adam and Rachel Porter, and Matt and Lindsay Porter; and three great-grandchildren, Abby Mertins, Josyah Mertins and Tripp Krawczyk.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Donald E. Stewart; three brothers, Glenard Hunt, Arthur Hunt and Norman Hunt; and one sister, Eleanor Walker.Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Doug Shoaff will officiate.
