Esther Leona Wilson, age 94, of New Castle, passed away the evening of September 21, 2024, at Jameson Care Center.

Born February 26, 1930, in Butler County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mildred Dean.

On Nov. 23, 1963, she married her husband of 60 years, Robert Wilson. He survives at home.

Esther was a graduate of Eastbrook High School. She then went on to obtain her nursing diploma from Jameson School of Nursing. For over 50 years, Esther was a devoted nurse, employed by Jameson Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Dr. Bill Pommersheim's Medical office. She loved being a wonderful Nana to her grandchildren, birdwatching, cooking and was the 'unofficial neighborhood patrol officer'. What gave her the most joy in life was being a loving and devoted wife to Bob and her fulfilling career as a nurse.

In addition to her husband, Esther is survived by one daughter, Barbara Vranjican of New Castle, PA; one brother, Wayne (Linda) Dean of New Castle, PA; two sisters, Helen Vanderveen of Hermitage, PA, and Wanda (Richard) Lechner of Wampum, PA; two grandchildren, Susan (Ken) Forsythe of Masury, OH and Tom (Valerie) Reese, Jr., of Grandville, MI; and four great-grandchildren, Brennan, Taryn, Camryn, and Elin.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Perry I. McCurdy, Jr.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation or services.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
