Eugene D. Garrett, age 70, of New Castle, PA passed away the morning of May 29, 2018 at Family Hospice in Pittsburgh.
Born January 14, 1948 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Frank J. and Nettie Smith Garrett.
Mr. Garrett attended Clarion University and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was the co-owner of Ohio Valley Railcar Corporation.
Eugene loved the outdoors, including water skiing and boating. He often worked on restoring performance cars and liked dirt bike riding and frequenting flea markets. He was a member of the Historical Society and the NRA and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He attended the Hawthorne Presbyterian Church in Crafton, PA.
He is survived by two brothers, Frank J. Garrett, Jr. of Pittsburgh and Bruce D. (Louise) Garrett of Chippewa, PA; 4 nieces, Jessica, Molly, Susan and Libby; 6 nephews, Sean, Bruce, Jr., Josh, Colin, Aaron and Miles; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John R. Garrett and his wife Janet R. Garrett.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites at 8:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation.
