Eugene R. "Gene" King, 78, of 419 Falls Avenue, passed away the night of May 31, 2013, at Jameson Hospital. Born August 2, 1934, in Ellwood City, he was a son of H. Edgar and Demeres Orris King. He was preceded in death on October 1, 2007 by his wife, Parlee "Gert" Grim King, whom he married July 7, 1968. Gene was formerly married to Rosalie Conti Delia, who currently resides in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Gene attended Ellwood City High School and was in the U.S. Army as a SP-4. Most of his working career was with the Neshannock School District as superintendent of transportation. Because of his love for children, he also enjoyed later being a bus driver for the Laurel School District. He was a member of the Neshannock Fire Department and the Order of the Moose, Lodge 51. Gene loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, boating and 4-wheeling. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christine A. King Partington and husband Jerry of Bowling Green, KY; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his second wife, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Chuckie Cline; and a brother, Jerald E. King. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. John Yergan. Full military rites will be given by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
