Eugene Paul Lutz, 89, of Davenport, FL, formerly of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 16, 2011 at his residence.Born Sept. 7, 1921, in New Castle, he was the son of Clare M. and Thelma Roberts Lutz.Eugene married Eula Jane Johnston Lutz on July 9, 1944. She passed away July 20, 2010.He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an MP.Eugene was a core maker at Cooper Industries for 42 1/2 years, retiring Sept. 30, 1983.He was a member of the New Castle Lodge #642, the New Castle Consistory, and the American Legion.When he lived in New Castle, Eugene was a member of First Baptist Church.Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Thelora Gene Brady of Kissimmee, FL, Jane Ann and Paul Sullivan of New Castle, Joycelyn Lee Calvert of Davenport, FL, and Darlene and Robert Francis of Winter Park, FL; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Eugene and Shelley Lutz of Marco Island, FL; three brothers, Donald S. Lutz, Dewey C. Lutz, and Kenneth M. Lutz, all of New Castle; three sisters, Ruth E. Lutz, Betty L. McMillen, and Janet McCormick, also all of New Castle; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris L. Benke; and a brother, Robert G. Lutz.Visitation will be Sunday, March 20, 2011, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.Services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites.
