Evelyn M. Gorley-White, age 96, of New Castle, passed away at the Inn at Poland Way on Sun. Aug. 25th.
Born Oct. 1, 1927, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Eugene Steinmetz and Dora (Gould) Steinmetz Hoon.
Evelyn was a Jan. 1946 graduate of New Castle High School. For 33 years, she worked for Dr. A.H. Borland and Dr. J.P. Borland before retiring in 1994. Eveyln enjoyed painting, golf, bowling, dancing, and bingo. She served as past president of Western PA Paraoptometric Association, Youngstown Area China Decorators, Business Professional Women, PA China Decorators, AARP – New Wilmington. Evelyn also belonged to American Ophthalmic Association, 4 C's China Club, Borland's Couples Golf League, Rolling Hills Ladies & Couples Golf Leagues, AARP Travel Club, Eagles Auxiliary, and Challengers. She was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her four children, Janet (Ronald) Micaletti, Lynn Bartlett, Mark (Peggy) Gorley, and Scott (Tina) Gorley; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog "Danny".
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Steinmetz and one sister Marjorie Steinmetz Henderson, husbands Claire Gorley, Jr., and Harry James White; and son-in-law Ronald Bartlett.
Following Evelyn's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private family service will be officiated by Rev. Jordan Rimmer, of Northminster Church, officiating, before her burial at Oak Park Cemetery.
