Evelyn I. Handlos, 76, of New Castle, passed away, Friday, January 11, 2013, at home after a two-year battle with cancer. Born February 18, 1936 in New Castle, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Steve and Mary Wheale. Evelyn graduated from New Castle High School in 1954, and married Robert Handlos of Portersville in 1956. She loved crocheting and collecting dolls, and will be remembered for how she enjoyed life, even to the last. Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Wheale. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert W. Handlos; two sons, Robert, Jr. (Julie) of Ohio and Steven (Joannie) of New Castle; three grandchildren, Jessica, Katelyn and Daniel; her sister Delores (Clarence) Werner; aunt, Betty Wheale; four nieces and a nephew. There are no calling hours and a private memorial will be conducted by the family. Burial was in Castle View Cemetery. Memorial donations in Evelyn's name can be made to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, or to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.
