Evelyn C. McMichael, 92, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of October 11, 2014, at her residence. She was born on November 6, 1921, in New Castle, to the late Bert and Talma Smith PenceEvelyn married Benjamin F. McMichael on February 15, 1941. He preceded her in passing on October 19, 2004. Mrs. McMichael worked as an independent income tax consultant. She was a graduate of Harlansburg High School and attended Geneva College, Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh. Evelyn enjoyed gardening , bingo and her card club, The 500 Club. Mrs. McMichael was a member of Eastbrook United Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday and Bible School. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Mary McMichael, of New Castle; her son, James F. McMichael of New Castle; 4 brothers, Lee Pence, Victor Pence, Mark Pence, all of New Castle, and Martin Pence of Barkeyville; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in passing by her parents; 1 daughter, Loraine Bentley; 3 brothers, Bert, William and Dallas Pence and 1 sister, Esther Green. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Octobert 15, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Funeral services will take place immediately following visitation at 8:00 p.m. Rev. Richard Nero will officiate. Burial will be in Eastbrook United Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Eastbrook United Presbyterian Church.
