Evelyn Ann Reed, age 79, of New Castle, passed away the evening of Oct. 7, 2024, at Jameson Care Center, with family by her side.

Born Sept. 13, 1945, in Vineland, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Frasin X. and Anna E. (Nicholas) Mitrea.

On July 5, 1966, she married her husband James P. Reed, Sr., who preceded her in death on June 3, 2013.

Evelyn was a homemaker who treasured taking care of her family. She loved crafting and flowers. She worked at Giant Eagle, as a florist. Evelyn was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren making sure to attend their activities. She was a member of Plain Grove Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer A. (Steven) DeLong of Hookstown, PA; two sons, James P. (Debbie) Reed, Jr., of Volant, PA, and Jeffrey M. (Wendy) Reed of New Castle, PA; three brothers, Frank and Paul Mitrea both of New Castle, PA, and Jerry Mitrea of Fort Worth, TX; one sister, Lorraine Cameron of New Castle, PA; and seven grandchildren, Emily (Zane) Wolf, Taylor (James) Natali, James, Bradley, Alison, Emma and Olivia.

Visitation will be held on Friday Oct. 11, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Christina Hostel officiating.
