Obituary

Everett E. Campbell, age 91, formerly of Union Township, passed away the afternoon of January 25, 2016 at Jameson Hospital. Born December 9, 1924 in New Castle, he was a son of Everett E and Hazel E. Kirker Campbell. Everett was preceded in death on February 19, 2009 by his wife of 58 years, Alice G. Hoover Campbell, whom he married June 9, 1950. A 1943 graduate of Princeton High School, he served his country during WWII as a Tec 5 with the U.S. Army. After his 1988 retirement from Pennsylvania Engineering working 34 years as a fitter, he was a deliveryman for Special Arrangements. Everett was a member of Mahoning Lodge #243, American Legion of New Castle, the Union Lions Club, and was the former vice-president of the Union Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years. He enjoyed collecting trains and spending time with his family. A member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Mercer, he served as a deacon. He is survived by one daughter Patti George, and son-in-law, Tom, whom he considered his son, of West Middlesex, Pa; a sister-in-law, Carol Campbell of New Castle; two grandchildren, Amy (Ryan) Dick of New Wilmington and Jennifer (Jason) Repko of Alexandria, VA; and four great-grandchildren, Delaney, Emily and Logan Dick of New Wilmington, and Zoe Repko of Alexandria, VA. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Robert Campbell; and one sister, Donna Cameron. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A Masonic service will take place at the conclusion of visitation Thursday at 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. August P. Hurst of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, and Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full military rites. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept., Attn: Secretary, 304 S. Scotland Lane, New Castle, PA 16101.
