Florence J. Minner, age 98 of New Castle, passed away the early morning of March 12, 2019 at Quality of Life Services - New Castle. Born December 11, 1920 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Herman W. and Nellie M. (McArthur) Young. On April 9, 1943, she married William F. Minner who preceded her in death on June 25, 2005. Florence was a 1939 graduate of New Castle High School. She was a homemaker, a member of Wimodausis, and was formerly an active member of Second Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and deacon and was involved in the Women's Association. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Her family would like to thank the kind people from Quality of Life Services and from Family Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassionate care for Florence. She is survived by two daughters; Judi (Howard) Glovier of New Castle and Susan (Doug) Patton of Marco Island, Florida; four grandchildren, Jodi Gregory, James (Amy) Glovier, Christopher (Krista) Patton and Stephen (Bethany) Patton; and seven great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Florence is preceded in death by one brother, Robert Young. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, from 1:00-3:00pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will take place immediately following visitation at 3:00 with the Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery.
