Floyd H. Newingham, Jr., 88, of Rhodes Estates, formerly of King Avenue, passed away peacefully the morning of October 26, 2011 at Jameson Hospital while surrounded by his loving family.Born April 21, 1923 in Apollo, PA, he was a son of Floyd H. Newingham Sr. and Rena Klingensmith McKinstry.He married the former Rose M. Ferrero on October 31, 1946. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2010.He was a 1940 graduate of Apollo High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific.He was the former owner of Schwinn Bicycle Center and Bicycles and More for over 35 years.He was a swimming official for many years in New Kensington and New Castle. He was one of the founding members of the Lawrence County Cycling Club.After the age of 65, Floyd took great pride that he bicycled across the United States two and a half times.He is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Dawn and Ralph McKelvy of Portersville and Kim and Jim Rowe of New Castle; one son and daughter-in-law, Floyd (Lucky) and Judy Newingham of Sarver, PA; one brother, William Newingham of Warrendale, PA; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.Rev. Charles Brown of Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church will officiate when a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Points Family YMCA, 800 Constitution Blvd., New Kensington, PA 15068 or the New Castle YMCA, 20 W.
