Frances Cornelia Tarnaski, 95, formerly of North Street, New Castle, passed away the afternoon of June 25, 2016 at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Born in New Castle on August 18, 1920, she was a daughter of Elmer and Cornelia Evans Salzman.
Her husband, Frank Tarnaski, whom she married on May 3, 1942 preceded her in death.
After graduating from Union High School, Frances was a homemaker. She enjoyed helping others and dedicated her life to the service of others. As a very active member and deaconess of New Castle Bible Church, she will be missed.
Surviving Frances is one son, Frank (Peggy) Tarnaski of New Castle; one niece, whom she raised, Mary (Howard) Barnstein of Camp Hill, PA; one sister, Althea Chisholm of Texas; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one son, Ronald Tarnaski; three brothers, Elmer Salzman, Jr., Joseph Salzman, and William Salzman; and five sisters, Virginia Jennings, Mary Elizabeth Seamans, Dorothy Todd, Harriet Zabloudil, and Sally Martin.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the south wing of Golden Hill Nursing Home for the loving and tender care given to Frances during her stay there.
Visitation will be from 4 -6 pm on Thursday at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 6:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Max Bungard of New Castle Bible Church officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
