Frank E. Kumrow, Jr., 79, formerly of Ellwood Rd., New Castle, passed away the evening of March 17, 2011 at Jameson Care Center.Born March 18, 1931, in New Castle, he was the son of Frank E. Sr. and Emma L. Seaton Kumrow.He married the former Eleanor Stroud on April 28, 1956. She survives and resides at Jameson Care Center.Frank was employed by the Hoyt Institue in their maintenance department and as a tour guide after retiring from Rockwell Spring Division where he was a foreman. He also owned and distributed Nehi Soda.Frank served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War stationed on the destroyer, The William M. Wood.Frank loved to tell stories and jokes, he loved animals and children and was an avid game and card player. Frank also loved to play softball and played on the First Assemly and Gardner Chapel softball teams. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailor, a navy organization.Frank was member of First Assembly of God where he helped with Children's Church and Vacation Bible School programs.In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by nieces and nephews, Dianna and Daryl Shriner, Richard S. Jr. and Talara Kumrow, Debra & Boe Wilson, Linda and Joe Meltzer, Jeff and Cathy Stroud, Colleen and Ricky Ward, Gary Strovol, Cathy and Gary Cubbal, David and Cindy Stroud, April and Ron Badger, Joette and Doug Lehberger, Michael and Barbara Stroud, Kevin and Lisa Stroud and David and Amy Altman.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard Kumrow, Sr. and Lawrence Kumrow.Visitation will be Sunday, March 20, 2011, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Chad Stoecker and The Rev. Kenneth Meyer will officiate. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites.
