Fred W. Bartberger, Jr., 71, of 2864 Mercer Road, passed away the morning of March 3, 2012 at his residence.Born November 24, 1940 in New Castle, he was a son of Fred W. and Edice Bintrim Bartberger, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Judith White Bartberger, whom he marrried February 2, 1963.Fred was a 1958 Shenango High School graduate.He was employed with Youngstown Sheet and Tube where he retired as general foreman. He later worked for Precision Feed Screws, Inc. as a machinist, retiring in 2007.Among Fred's many interest were gardening, toy trains and fishing. He also enjoyed birds and bird watching and loved working with children.He was a member of New Hope Wesleyan Church where he enjoyed teaching Children's Sunday school and junior church.In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and her husband, Tamara and Jeffrey Covelli of New Castle; one son and his wife, Fred and Jamie Bartberger, III of New Castle; two brothers, Ronald Bartberger and Robert (Faith) Bartberger all of New Castle; two sisters, Marge (Robert) Strickler of Chippewa and Carol (Emmanuel) Weinschenk of New Castle; and five grandchildren, Fred Bartberger IV, Arlena Bartberger (fiance' Ray Main), Alex Covelli, Mackenzie Covelli and Sophia Covelli.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Gary DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be in Neshannock Presbyterian Cemetery.
