Fred Ignatz, 85, of 318 Rhodes Place, passed away the afternoon of August 7, 2011 at Jameson Hospital.Born January 2, 1926 in New Castle, he was a son of John and Anna Ignatz.He married Dorothy Letera on October 18, 1949. She preceded him in death on March 26, 1996.Fred was a graduate of New Castle High School and served in the Navy as a tail gunner during WWII.He was employed with Rockwell International in the Spring Division as a laborer.Fred enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping.He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.Fred is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon and Donald Evanoski of Allison Park, PA and Doreen Cunningham of New Castle; five grandchildren, Jennifer Dugger, Amanda Steele, Nathan Evanoski, Candice Lutz and Cody Cunningham; and three great-grandchildren, Eden Dugger, Celia Dugger and Leah Steele.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.There will be no calling hours.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. The Rev. Erin Smith will officiate.
