Frederick W. Crothers, 86, of New Castle, peacefully passed away the morning of January 21, 2022, at Clen-Moore Place where he resided with his wife, Barbara. Born December 4, 1935, in New Castle, he was the son of Walter William and Elizabeth Margaret (Rhinehart) Crothers. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara (Hill) Crothers, whom he married May 3, 1957. Fred was employed with Flemming Steel as a mechanical fitter until his retirement. Among his interests he loved camping and canoeing with his family. He formerly attended First Baptist Church and more recently a member of New Life Baptist. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Brenda Ritt of New Castle; two grandchildren, Benjamin (Felicia) Ritt and Erin (Mike) Lemon; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Lemon. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David L. Crothers and Dennis Crothers; and one sister, Norma J. Hufford. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home in New Castle. Burial will in Oak Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J.
