Frederick Kahrer, 83, of New Castle, passed away the morning of December 17, 2019 at The Grove at New Wilmington. Born February 28, 1936 in New Castle, he was the son of William and Mary G. (McGivern) Kahrer. A graduate of New Castle High School, Fred attended NCST Welding program for two years. He enlisted in the US Marine Corp. in 1957 and discharged in 1960. He was employed with Nickle's Bakery until 1972 and then gained employment with Rockwell International Axle Division until its closing in 1993 when he retired. As a teenager he was very active with the YMCA and the Boy Scouts of America. Fred was an avid fisherman and a member of several organizations such as the Three Rivers-Muskies, Inc., Morain Musky Association and the Western Pennsylvania Fishing Club. He was also an active member of Cornerstone Community Church. He is survived by two sons, Scott Kahrer of Coraopolis, PA and Jeffrey Kahrer; one daughter, Kristen Kahrer of New Castle; step-children, Vincent Esposito, John (Kim) Esposito, and Bobby Joe Esposito, all of New Castle, and Scott M. (Anne Marie) Esposito of New Wilmington; one brother, Herbert C. Kahrer of PA; cousin, Ronald Kahrer of Florida who was like a brother; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond "Skip" Kahrer and William Kahrer and an infant daughter. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, from 4:00-6:00pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be held immediately after visitation on Friday at 6:00pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Lahr officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to R.
