Frieda Sherman, 95, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at Shepherd of the Valley.Frieda was born May 23, 1916 in Taylor, PA, a daughter of Benjamin and Anna Deininger Weisenfluh. She spent much of her life in the Scranton, PA area before marrying Franklin J. Sherman in 1975 and moving to New Castle.She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in New Castle.Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lydia Evans of California, Ella Smith of Connecticut and Madelyn Sherman of New Castle; a brother, Jack Weisenfluh of Scranton; and two step-sons-in-law, Donald Aiken of Portersville, PA and Wayne Cornelius of Boardman, OH.Survivors include her husband, Franklin and two step-daughters, Doris (Roger) Cousineau of The Villages in Florida and Jane Cornelius of Boardman, OH; four step-grandchildren, Don (Holly) Aiken of Albany, NY, Allison (Eric) Waldschmidt of Pittsburgh, PA, Wayne (Erika) Cornelius of Boardman, OH, and Dave (Dana) Cornelius of Pittsburgh, PA; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105 on Wednesday, March 14 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Thomas McCurdy will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
